Event - Indian Day
31 January 2012
To launch their new term's project Year 3 and 4 children had an ‘Indian Day’.
The children made Mendhi (henna) designs on paper cutouts of their hands, sketched exotic fruits, learnt about the Elephant Festival in Jaipor and decorated their own elephants.
Mrs Angood from Action Aid gave the children a presentation about 'Chembakolli', a village in India. They found out about the daily lives of the villagers and what it is like to work and go to school there. The children dressed up, had a tea picking competition and tasted Indian tea.
Thank you to Budgens for providing some of the Indian food for the children to taste which included poppodoms, onion bhajis and vegetable samosas.
