Event - The Falconry Centre visit Years 1 and 2
3 November 2010
Children in Years 1 and 2 welcomed some very special visitors to the hall.
Richard Wall from Heart of England Raptors brought Falstaff the Eagle Owl, Beatrice the British Barn Owl, Spook the Hawk and Feste the Falcon to teach us all about birds of prey as part of this term's topic on 'Variation'. The children were engaged throughout by the fascinating presentation and gasped as Beatrice flew over their heads!
The teachers and children discovered lots of interesting facts about owls and gained a real-life insight into the variation between different bird species. Richard commented on the excellent observations made by the children and that he was asked several thoughtful questions that he had never before been asked in thirty years of visiting schools!
If you would like to visit these beautiful birds of prey, Richard Wall and the animals are based at Hatton Country World.
