Event - Key Stage 1 Visit Birmingham Airport

3 July 2013

On arrival at Birmingham Airport, pupils in Key Stage 1 took the escalator to the departures gate and took a return journey on the monorail.

They then entered 'Flight School', already buzzing with excitement and anticipation. They were greeted by PC Dave and colleague Lisa, who talked to the children about airport security, and showed them some of the important equipment needed.

Following this, it was straight into a series of activities to experience forces in flight, making rocket mice with Jackie Flaherty from Chipping Campden and the Ogden Trust, making helicopters with Mrs Greygoose and testing wing on airplanes with Chipping Campden lab technician, Mrs Clarke.

During lunch, the pupils were able to observe the planes arriving and departing on the runway. After the final round of activities, including looking at luggage labels and weighing suitcases, Bidford pupils made their way home.

Thank you as always to our star helpers, who helped to make the day so thoroughly enjoyable for the pupils (and adults!).
